At this event, we'll explore our connections to land and culture through artistic expression. Meet California Native presenters as they share how they express these connections through food, fashion, and art — engage with them directly, hear their perspectives, and experience their creativity up close. Sample small bites rooted in the ingredients that tie us to this place, and take in the evening as the sun sets over Huhuunga. All friends and neighbors are welcome to attend.

Rooted in Altadena is a gathering centered on story, ceremony, and community on Tongva land.
Together, we reflected on the return of ceremony to ancestral homelands now under Tongva care, the renewal of Tongva language, the role of fire ecology, and the enduring relationship between cultural practice and land stewardship. This conversation is offered in the spirit of balance and reciprocity, honoring the ways land, language, and community are woven together. Watch the recording here.
The gathering was moderated by TTPC Board President Wallace Cleaves and Executive Director Ravena Feather Soto, with reflections from Desireé Martinez and Lina Tejeda, who shared perspectives on healing, creativity, and the return of balance through cultural practice and relationship to land.
